Industry leading event adopts plan to safeguard the health and safety of participants, sponsors, exhibitors, and staff
Organizers of the US Trail Running Conference have announced a safety plan to safeguard the health and welfare of all in-person participants, sponsors, exhibitors and staff in response to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. As organisers, we believe it is our role and responsibility during this time to prioritize two things: the health and welfare of our participants and the running community, while also providing exceptional content that continues to deliver a high level of education, inspiration and action items for trail race directors and trail runners. Following is a summary of the Safety Plan proposed for the 2021 event:
Safety Plan
Vaccination status – to mitigate the risk of transmission of Covid-19 during the Conference, all participants must either produce proof of full vaccination, or a negative PCR test within 72 hours of your arrival at the Conference if you are unvaccinated. This information will be recorded at the registration desk for the Conference.
Mask Wearing – current ordinance in effect in Fayetteville (Ordinance 6465) requires persons to wear face masks in public service areas in city owned buildings and places of public accommodation. As the Conference takes place in a city owned building (Fayetteville Town Center) then mask wearing is required at all times within the Town Center building, including for presenters and panel members. Masks may be removed while consuming food or drinking a beverage if social distancing and disinfection best practices are also followed.
Social Distancing – all participants are required to maintain a distance of 6 feet apart at all times. This also applies to panel members and exhibitors and presenters. Seating will be arranged in the Conference venue using this social distance criteria.
Airflow Indoors – the Conference will work with our partners at Fayetteville Town Center to maximize airflow within the Conference venue to further reduce the risk transmission of Covid-19.
Practice good respiratory etiquette – cover coughs and sneezes or coughing/sneezing into your elbow/upper sleeve
Outside Sessions – masks may be removed in outdoor settings generally while best practices to maintain social distance are followed. Masks should be worn if using shared transport to travel to the start and to return to accommodations for all fun runs. Masks are not required when running on trails during the Conference
Covid Waiver – all in person participants will be required to complete and sign a Covid waiver when they first arrive at the Conference
Action if a participant becomes sick – if a participant appears to have Covid symptoms at or during the Conference, they should immediately leave the Conference facility, and be separated from other participants. They should then take a rapid Covid test to determine their health status.
Covid tests are available at Walgreens, 4015 W Weddington Drive, or Walmart, 3475 Black Forest Drive, and Community Clinic Fayetteville, 3162 W Martin Luther King Blvd.
If the test is positive, they should isolate and follow CDC-recommended steps. They should also inform as soon as practically possible any other people they have been in close proximity with, including Conference participants, of their positive test. If the test is negative then we recommend that they do not attend the Conference again until they feel well enough to do so.
Updates to this Safety Plan – note that this plan may be updated as ordinances and other legislation is introduced that has an impact on the safety of all participants in the Conference. Any updates will be notated as amendments on this document.
