US Trail Running Conference Announces Theme for 2025 Event, The Future of Trail Running: Technology Solutions

Explore emerging trends to help you grow your races

The US Trail Running Conference, presented by Marathon Printing, Inc., has announced the theme for this year’s thirteenth annual event, The Future of Trail Running: Technology Solutions. The 2025 theme has been shaped through post-2024 Conference survey responses and organically builds from previous Conference themes.

Content at the 2025 Conference will include professional presentations and panels featuring industry experts who will share their knowledge and experiences in producing unique, viable, sustainable and diverse races. Subjects will explore emerging trends in the sport to help race directors and organizing committees grow their races. Examples of topics at the Conference include social media marketing and connecting with diverse participants, how AI can be used to help efficiency across an organization, website creation, live streaming, sustainability, race communication options, and the latest materials used in race production.

“We applaud the theme choice which aligns with ATRA’s 2025 theme: Innovation,” said Nancy Hobbs, executive director American Trail Running Association. “The trail space has an ever-changing landscape that requires event organizers to stay on top of trends and technology. Providing the necessary tools via Conference programming makes it a must-attend event for new and veteran race directors.”

Terry Chiplin, Event Director for the US Trail Running Conference comments, “I am excited that our theme this year will be focused on how technology is an integral tool that directs the future of trail running and helps grow the sport. We believe that the content we create will help race directors and event organizers overcome many of the challenges that they have shared with us, and we look forward to a solution-focused, stimulating, inspiring and collaborative event in Knoxville in October.”

The US Trail Running Conference will return to Tennessee for the 2025 event. Dates are set for October 15-17, 2025, with the event moving to the University of Tennessee Conference Center in downtown Knoxville. Registration is open now for race directors and event organizers.
