American Trail Running Association funds generated by 2017 US Trail Running Conference

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The fifth annual US US Trail Running Conference was held in Estes Park, Colorado, October 11-14, 2017. The Conference featured several enterprises to raise funds for ATRA (American Trail Running Association). Founded in 1996, ATRA’s mission is to promote trail running, mountain running, ultrarunning on trails, and to provide resources for race directors and participants in our sport. They offer individual, club, race and corporate memberships. A quarterly newsletter is a primary benefit of membership, and includes a national events calendar, thoughtful and educational articles, and timely information about the sport of Trail Running. A total just over 1,700 US$ was raised during the Conference for the non-profit that is based in Colorado Springs.

The main fund raising enterprise was the ATRA prize draw, with more than 50 prizes generously donated by a number of supporting sponsors. Prizes included shoes and goody bags from Altra, shoes from Inov-8, transition seat wraps (with Conference logo) from Orange Mud, hydration vests and bottles from Camelbak, gels, endurance drink mix, shorts and hats from VFuel, sets of Icespikes, shoes from Icebug, headphones, bluetooth speakers and fitbuds from Koss Headphones, an R3 from Roll Recovery, gift certificates from the Estes Park Mountain Shop, bags of endurance drink mix, softflask, and hat from Tailwind Nutrition, shoes from Xero Shoes, Wildlight books from Estes park landscape photographer, Erik Stensland, and sunglasses from D-Curve.

The registration process included an option to purchase ATRA membership, as well as donate to the not for profit organization. The Trail Running Film Festival on Friday October 13 also contributed to fund raising, and featured the 2017 Trails in Motion program.

The sixth annual US Trail Running Conference is scheduled for August 28-31, 2018, and moves to San Luis Obispo, CA. Registration will open in January for trail race directors, trail runners, sponsors and vendors.
